Trainings

InfoAlamedaCounty offers demonstrations and trainings on how to use data and information, including our online resources, as a tool for community change.

Demonstrations are opportunities for you to learn about InfoAlamedaCounty, our online resources, and our capacity building work. Demonstrations are also good opportunities to talk about joint projects and partnerships.

Trainings are a much more interactive way to learn about using information for change. Our trainings combine presentation, discussion and role playing with hands-on computer work. They can be organized around the issues or the people you are working with, like housing or youth.

We tailor our presentations and trainings to the needs of your organization or group. Here is a menu of options with links to descriptions:

Basic Demonstration - 20 minutes
Full Demonstration - 45 minutes
Basic Training - 2 hours
In-depth Training - 3 hours

Schedule or Attend a Training

Basic Demonstration - 20 minutes

The basic demonstration provides an introduction to InfoAlamedaCounty, our services and products, and a quick overview of the Map Room and our available data and maps.

Full Demonstration - 45 minutes

The full demonstration consists of an introduction to InfoAlamedaCounty, our services and products, a demonstration of the Map Room, plus a presentation on how data and information can be used as tools in the process of community change.

Basic Training - 2 hours

The basic training includes: an introduction to InfoAlamedaCounty, our products and services, a presentation on how data and information can be used as tools in the process of community change, a demonstration of the Map Room, hands-on computer exercises, and participatory workshop on using the data and information around current community issues.

In-depth Training - 3 hours

In an in-depth training, we focus on building your organization's data and information capacity around a particular issue that you identify ahead of time. We work with your staff and members to learn how to get the information you want, how to analyze it and think critically about what that information means, and how to use it as a tool in your organizing, advocacy, program development, or strategic planning.

Schedule a Training

Please contact us by phone or email to discuss scheduling a training for your organization or group. Our contact information is below.

Technical and Facility Needs

For all demonstrations and trainings, we bring an Internet-ready laptop and projector. We need you to provide a high-speed Internet connection, through an Ethernet cable or wireless connection, and screen or blank wall to project onto.

For trainings, we also need several computers also hooked into a high-speed Internet connection for people to work on during the applied section of the training.

If these facilities are not available to you, and you are interested in sponsoring a demonstration or training, let us know. We have several partner organizations who have the right facilities, and we may be able to arrange something.

Costs

Basic Demonstrations are provided free of charge on a time available basis. Full demonstration and training sessions are offered on a fee-for services basis and costs vary based on the specifics of the session
